Ethereum core developers have finalized the scope of the much-anticipated “Verkle Upgrade,” expected to roll out in Q4 2025. The upgrade is designed to drastically reduce the network’s storage requirements and improve scalability, laying the foundation for broader adoption.
Testnet implementation is scheduled for September, with several Layer 2 solutions already preparing integration plans. If successful, Verkle could be one of Ethereum’s most impactful protocol improvements since the Merge.
